Toyota has not changed the entire shape or design of the Innova in the new-gen model. So, the new Innova Crysta retains the overall silhouette and basic design of its predecessor, but a new design language has been endowed on the new model. The all new Toyota Innova Crysta looks bigger, bolder, more alluring and more premium – all thanks to its bigger dimensions and the new design language which incorporates a lot of new styling elements. While the previous Innova looked only elegant and refined, the Innova Crysta looks dashing and edgy. Thus, the new Crysta also comes with a much better road presence as well.
Talking about the exterior styling elements, the Innova Crysta comes with an entirely new face with a new large dual chrome slat grille, new sleek sweptback headlights with integrated LED DRLs, muscular bumper design, a large air dam and new alloy wheels. The previous model flaunted triple slat chrome grille and projector headlamps without any LED elements.
The new Innova Crysta has grown in size over its predecessor and is about 150 mm longer, 65 mm wider and 35 mm taller than the first-gen Innova, this means that the new Crysta is more spacious than the previous model. It offers a ground clearance of 193 mm. The Crysta is also based on an all-new platform that is sturdier and lighter as against the previous model.
So, while the Innova Crysta dimensions are 4735 mm in length, 1830 mm in width and 1795mm in height, the old Innova’s dimensions were 4585 mm in length, 1765 mm in width and 1760 mm in height.
The all new Toyota Innova Crysta also boasts of a fully new cabin which offers a better premium look and feel. It offers better style and comfort with premium quality materials, better finish, leather upholstery and more cushioning for the seats. While previous Innova had a plain dashboard, the Crysta flaunts classy chrome accents on the dash.
The new-gen Innova Crysta also offers a range of new premium features including a 7-inch touchscreen integrated infotainment system with voice commands, leather seat upholstery, keyless entry with smart key, automatic climate control, ambient LED lighting, reverse camera and rear parking sensors, all of which were missing on the old Innova.
The new generation Innova Crysta gets powered by two new diesel motor options, namely a 2.4 liter GD unit and a 2.8 liter GD unit. Both of these new diesel engines are more powerful than the older model’s engines. The 2.4 liter GD diesel mill can generate a max power of 147 bhp and a peak torque of 343 Nm, while the more powerful 2.8-liter motor pumps out 175 bhp of peak power and 360 Nm of top torque. The old-gen Innova’s 2.5-liter diesel mill used to offer 101 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque.
Owing to the new engines of the Toyota Innova Crysta becomes the most powerful MPV model in India.
The previous generation Toyota Innova offered fuel efficiency of 13.31 km per liter. On the other hand, despite the being more powerful the Crysta’s new 2.4-liter mill claims to return the fuel efficiency of 15.1 km per liter, while even the bigger 2.8 liter is claimed to deliver a better mileage of 14.29 km per liter.
It is evident by now that the all new Toyota Innova Crysta has improved in all the departments over its predecessor and is a more premium and better loaded MPV. Thus, it is given that the new generation model will be also more expensive than the old-gen model.
